Galatians 3:1-2, “O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?”
Dear reader, right doctrine matters! There is nothing in this universe as important as God's simple plan of salvation, because if you get the Gospel wrong you cannot be born again, which means you'll spend eternity without escape in a burning Hell of fire and brimstone. ...
Revelation 21:8, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
That being said, here is the counterfeit plan of salvation put forth by the 'King James Bible' website...
Sample prayer
"Dear God, I believe in you and that your Son, Jesus Christ, is Lord. I believe He died for my sins and was resurrected. I repent and ask for forgiveness of my sins.I've decided to follow Jesus for all the days of my life. Thank you for your forgiveness and for the hope of eternal life. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen." [emphasis added]
At the bottom of the same webpage, the writer of the preceding counterfeit plan of salvation asks the reader: “Did you make a decision today to follow Jesus Christ?” THAT IS NOT PART OF THE GOSPEL! Dear friend, that is NOT how you get saved!
There are four problematic issues with the preceding plan of salvation:
Jesus' being “LORD” has nothing to do with receiving God's free gift of forgiveness of sins and eternal life. What saith the Scripture? 1st Timothy 4:10, “For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.” You simply need to accept Jesus as your personal Savior to be saved, but not your LORD! Christ automatically becomes your LORD (Master) when you get saved. BEWARE of Satan's Lordship Salvation! The Devil's modern perversions of the Holy Bible corrupt Romans 10:9 to read that you must say, “Jesus is Lord,” to be saved, but that is a false translation, not the truth of God's Word (Romans 1:25). Please use only the inspired King James Bible.
Nowhere does the inspired Word of God require you to pray a Sinner's Prayer to be saved. Religious men have added this extra step to God's simple plan of salvation. John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” There is nothing inappropriate or wrong about accompanying one's faith with a prayer, but it is faith and not saying some words in a prayer that saves you. By not explaining this to lost sinners, you run the risk that they won't understand the Gospel.
Nowhere does the inspired King James Bible require anyone to “follow Jesus” to be saved. In Acts 16:16b-17a,“a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: The same followed Paul and us...” A demon possessed woman followed the Apostle Paul. Just because someone follows Jesus doesn't mean they are saved. Judas Iscariot followed Jesus as one of His apostles and yet was a known thief whom Christ called “a devil” (John 6:70, 12:6). Many people FOLLOWED Jesus merely for a handout of food. John 6:26, “Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.” It is damnable heresy to tell someone to “become a Christ follower” to get to Heaven! This is simply not the Gospel. Although it is true that all of Jesus' sheep do follow Him, you don't get saved by following Christ; you get saved by resting in Him as your Savior (Hebrews 4:10-11; John 6:40).
The writer of the preceding counterfeit gospel tells the reader to “repent,” but doesn't explain what that means. In today's wicked American culture where most churches falsely require people to be willing to forsake a lifestyle of sinning to be saved (which is reformation not repentance), it is absolutely necessary nowadays to explain what it means to “repent.” I personally never use the word at all, simply because the Gospel of John (God's Gospel track according to John 20:31) doesn't mention the word “repent” even once. That is simply because repentance is automatically included with believing. That is, you have changed your mind from unbelief to belief when you trust Christ. Bible repentance simply means to “change your mind,” nothing more. The context of a particular Scripture passage provides the necessary supplemental information to know what we must change our mind about. It is deceptive to merely require readers to “repent,” knowing fully that the reader can go either way in meaning. Repentance means different things to different people, which is why it is so vitally important to explain what the word means if you ever use it. You don't repent AND believe to be saved; you repent TO believe. Repentance facilitates believing.
A helpful illustration of repentance is flying from Chicago to Hawaii. I can simply instruct you to fly to Hawaii. It is not necessary for me to first tell you to leave Chicago, and then secondly go to Hawaii. The same is true with leading someone to faith in Jesus. You can simply preach the Gospel (which means “Good News”) to a lost sinner, without first telling them to leave their unbelief. This is exactly why we find the word “believe” mentioned 85 times in the Gospel of John, but the word “repent” is not mentioned even once.
Dear reader, you don't repent AND believe to be saved; you repent TO believe. Repentance facilitates believing. Jesus commanded the reader in John 5:39 to 'SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES.' Tragically, 99% of churches, social media sites, religious books and movies, and so-called Christian colleges are WRONG on Bible repentance and God's simple plan of salvation. There are not different variations of the Gospel, there has alway been only one plan of salvation (Galatians 1:6-8). As did the Apostle Paul, I marvel how most churchgoers have fallen so easily hook, line and sinker like a hungry fish for the Devil's bait.
It saddens and frustrates me that a King James Bible website is preaching a counterfeit plan of salvation. RIGHT DOCTRINE MATTERS!!! Thank you for reading my ministry blog.
Galatians 1:6-9, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”
“But the new thing that’s happened today is, liberalism is just about dead. But in our conservative groups, heresies are coming in. At least, I’ve labeled them heresies. Some think I ought not to, but many of these men have been friends of mine in the past. Let me just mention them, and I’m not gonna belabor this point either, because all I want to be sure of [is] that we’re in days of apostasy – that in conservative churches today a new gospel is being preached, and that’s the Lordship gospel, the Lordship Salvation – that you are not saved until you make Jesus Lord.
And I said to a friend of mine that teaches that, and he’s in a seminary, and I said to him, ‘What do you do with the thief on the cross? Did he make Jesus Lord?’ Why, all he did, or asked, was, ‘Remember me when you come into your kingdom.’ That’s all he did; he just had faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. And I can imagine that old tough Philippian jailer that came in that night, and he was ready to kill himself because Rome would’ve done it for him. And Paul says, ‘Don’t do yourself harm. We’re all here.’ And then this man said, ‘What shall I do to be saved?’
And if anybody needed to make Jesus Lord, it was that old rough Philippian jailer! But he didn’t mention that. He said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.’ . . . and you can always recognize that they add something to what Jesus did for us on the cross. Jesus paid it all. He doesn’t want my two bits. He doesn’t want anything I do.
And He doesn’t want my commitment because He’s found out that I lied about that two or three times. And don’t you look at me that way because you’ve done the same thing. May I say to you, thank God tonight for a Savior who did it all! And I can know I’m saved, because I trust Him. I trust Him. And that’s what He told me to do.” —Pastor J. Vernon McGee, “What Can Believers Do In Days of Apostasy?” (Timestamp: 14:30 - 16:20 and 19:41 - 20:28)
LORDSHIP SALVATION is a damnable heresy that mixes works with grace; mixes service with salvation; mixes discipleship with sonship; mixes sanctification with justification, et cetera. John Bunyan (1628-1688) said it very well...
“If you do not put a difference between justification wrought by the man Christ without and sanctification wrought by the Spirit of Christ within, you are not able to divide the Word aright; but contrariwise, you corrupt the Word of God, and cast stumbling blocks before the people.” —Evangelist John Bunyan
In other words, we MUST be diligent to make sure to always keep a believer's SERVICE for Christ (Romans 12:1), completely separate from one's SALVATION through faith in Christ (Galatians 3:26). Pastor M.R. DeHaan (1891-1965) said these helpful words on the topic...
"There is a vast difference between coming to Jesus for salvation and coming after Jesus for service. Coming to Christ makes one a believer, while coming after Christ makes one a disciple. All believers are not disciples. To become a believer one accepts the invitation of the Gospel, to be a disciple one obeys the challenge to a life of dedicated service and separation. Salvation comes through the sacrifice of Christ; discipleship comes only by sacrifice of self and surrender to His call for devoted service. Salvation is free, but discipleship involves paying the price of a separated walk. Salvation can't be lost because it depends upon God's faithfulness, but discipleship can be lost because it depends upon our faithfulness." —Pastor M.R. DeHaan, Hebrews; Zondervan Publishing House, 1959 (p. 117)
Well said. I thank God for free grace preachers!
You want to “make Jesus Lord?”Matthew 7:22-23, “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” So much for being saved by “making Jesus Lord.” Why? Because they trusted in themselves and their “many wonderful works” to earn their way to Heaven. They didn't trust Christ alone for salvation! They made Jesus “Lord,“ but it wasn't enough! Because they were still adding WORKS to salvation! Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
2nd Corinthians 6:14-18, “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”
Charlie Kirk was WRONG to coddle unsaved Mormons and Catholics in their damnable heresy. You'll never win lost sinners in false religions to Christ by babying them in their hellbound state. I am sick and disgusted by Charlie's ecumenical influence.
Clearly, he was sitting on the fence, playing both sides of the table. I do not know if Charlie Kirk went to Heaven, but I do know that you don't get to Heaven by giving your life to Christ, nor by accepting Jesus as "Lord" of your life. It seems like half of the country is idolizing Charlie Kirk right now, but Christians needs to speak up to warn others that what Charlie Kirk promoted WASN'T the Gospel.
I don't hate Charlie, not at all, but I do hate the accursed deadly Roman Catholic and Mormon cults. I hate the Devil's lie of Lordship Salvation. I hate ecumenical compromise that always leads to a works-based plan of salvation and apostasy. Bible fundamentalism is separating from false religion, worldly Christians and those who stray from biblical teaching.
Charlie Kirk was the product of neo-evangelical churches that preach the "repent of your sins" crap to get to Heaven, like nearly every Baptist church wickedly does in Pensacola. God's curse is upon any church that distributes toxic Chick Tracks, which pervert the Gospel of free grace.
You all can bow to Baal if you want, but I am standing with the Gospel of free grace, exposing Charlie Kirk for the ecumenical compromiser that he was. SHAME on Charlie for kissing up to the hellbound Catholics and Mormons. All he did was obscure God's simple plan of salvation. I think he was sincere, but sincerely wrong (Proverbs 16:25).
If anyone is so far from God and spiritually blind to claim that Charlie innocently used Mary's good character to allure Catholics to Christ, you are woefully wrong in your thinking. The Apostle Paul didn't go along with the cults to win their favor. Paul said he refused to tolerate false prophets for even one hour (Galatians 2:5).
Christian men should be exposing the WHORE of Rome, not boasting that your wife was baptized in the Catholic church, which is exactly what Charlie Kirk did. It couldn't be more obvious that he was trying to coddle them. It does matter, very much so. Roman Catholics everywhere love Charlie and his wife Erika because of their shallow and lame testimony. SHAME ON CHARLIE!!!
Someone made a stupid comment today on Facebook, falsely accusing me of hating Charlie Kirk. I unfriended and blocked out his stupid ass. Unbelievable! Folks, I don't hate anybody, certainly not Charlie Kirk. I hate what God commands us as believers to hate, "EVIL" (Psalms 97:10).
I hate the accursed Mormon sex cult. I hate the accursed whore of Rome, the despicable Roman Catholic cult. I hate the Devil's falsehood of Lordship Salvation. I hate the Satanic lie that you must "repent of your sins" to get to Heaven, which nonsense is not taught in the inspired King James Bible.
In the following video you will hear Charlie Kirk for yourself saying these heretical words:
“If your Christianity is nothing more than an insurance plan for the afterlife—that is not a conversion—that is not legitimate Christianity. If you're like, 'Hey, I went on Easter, I raised my hand (just in case the Christian thing is right); I'm going to Heaven because I did the thing, I signed the paper.' That is an insult to God. ...it's you acting as if God is there like BlueCross and BlueShield in case you have a broken leg.” —Charlie Kirk
Dear reader, that is so wrong on numerous levels.
Charlie Kirk STUNS hosts on Jesus Christ and the True Gospel
In the preceding video interview, Charlie is clearly implying that you cannot just raise your hand in response to a Gospel invitation. He clearly implies that more than faith is required to get to Heaven. Dear reader, there is absolutely nothing wrong, unbiblical or illegitimate about trusting the GOOD NEWS of Christ crucified, buried and risen to escape the fires of Hell. That is why most people get saved!
I have serious doubts about Charlie's salvation. You must keep in mind that every hellbound follower of Roman Catholicism, Mormonism, the Church of Christ, Lutherans, Seventh-Day Adventists and Calvinists—all agree with Charlie's vague and lame theology. They've all given their life to Christ. They're all trying to turn from their evil ways (works according to Jonah 3:10). What Charlie preached was simply NOT a free grace Gospel.
Please don't misunderstand my post. Today was Charlie Kirk's funeral. I just read that 200,000 people attended in Arizona at the State Farm Stadium. They said Charlie's funeral was the most televised event ever. I love Charlie Kirk. Someone today horribly accused me of hating him, but that is not the case at all. I love what Charlie stood for—decency, faith in Jesus, life for the unborn, family stability and normalcy. That being said, Charlie made some controversial statements, such as the one I just shared with you a moment ago, which cause me to doubt his salvation. Sadly, Charlie was so vague that it's hard to discern if he was saved or not.
I found the following article today, which is very disturbing...
‘A Hero’: Catholic Cardinal Hails Charlie Kirk as ‘Modern Day St. Paul’
Cardinal Timothy Dolan hailed Charlie Kirk as a “modern day Saint Paul” as he praised the conservative activist as a “hero” and “evangelist.”
Kirk was assassinated on September 10 during a public speaking event at Utah Valley University.
It is tragic when the biggest Satanic religious cult on the planet, Roman Catholicism, praises Charlie Kirk. The reason why is clearly because Charlie was ecumenical, who surreptitiously avoided offending the cults; namely, Mormons and Roman Catholics. Moment before his tragic assassination, Kirk told the audience that half of his staff are Mormons. I am not trying to cast a negative reflection on one of American's greatest people. Charlie Kirk is an American hero!
The reason I wrote this blog is to draw attention to Kirk's sinful ecumenical compromise with false religions, and to expose the counterfeit plan of salvation that he promoted. Kirk said in fifth grade he gave my life to Christ. That is NOT how you get to Heaven. He has often said that the way to Heaven is to receive Jesus as your “Lord and Savior,” but in fact you don't have to take Jesus as “Lord” of your life to be saved. You just need to trust Jesus as your personal Savior, receiving His sacrificial death on the cross as full payment for your sins.
The big problem with Charlie's statements about salvation is that every pseudo-Christian religious cult on the planet agrees with his shallow and lame statements. Every hellbound Mormon and Roman Catholic agrees with Charlie that Jesus is the “Lord and Savior,” and they have given their lives to Him. But Catholics also foolishly trust in their Seven Sacraments to get to Heaven, and errantly teach that there is no salvation outside of the Roman Catholic church. These are damnable heresies!
Mormons have another Jesus, teaching that He is not almighty God. Mormons trust in good works to get them to Heaven, yet speak of salvation by grace through faith. It is imperative that Christians warn the cults that sacraments, water baptism and good works are NOT necessary or permitted in God's simple plan of salvation. Charlie Kirk was so vague that after his death Catholics everywhere are suggesting that he was about to convert to Catholicism.
Report: Charlie Kirk was ‘this close’ to becoming Catholic just prior to his death
Turning Point U.S.A. CEO Charlie Kirk speaks at the Republican National Convention on July 15, 2024, in Milwaukee.
By Daniel Payne
CNA Staff, September 19, 2025 / 12:02 pm
Slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk was reportedly strongly considering becoming Catholic just prior to his assassination, according to a bishop who spoke to him shortly before his killing.
Robert Brennan, a Los Angeles-based writer and the brother of Fresno, California, Bishop Joseph Brennan, said in a Sept. 18 column in the Los Angeles archdiocesan newspaper Angelus that Kirk had a “personal exchange” with the California prelate about a week before Kirk’s murder at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.
The writer Brennan, who said Bishop Brennan gave him permission to share the story, wrote that Kirk had spoken to the prelate at a prayer breakfast in Visalia. The conservative activist “told the bishop about his Catholic wife and children and how he attended Mass with them.”
Kirk acknowledged “speculation” about his possible interest in becoming Catholic, Brennan wrote in Angelus; he subsequently told Bishop Brennan: “I’m this close” to converting.
In his Angelus column Brennan pointed to a recent video Kirk made in which he acknowledged some “big disagreements” with Catholicism but claimed that Protestants “under-value” the Blessed Mother.
“We don’t talk about Mary enough. We don’t venerate her enough,” Kirk said, arguing that Mary is “the solution” to “toxic feminism” in the U.S.
I am concerned that Charlie Kirk may have been more religious than a born-again Christian. The fact that he said if your Christianity is nothing more than an “insurance plan for the afterlife” to escape Hell, your conversion is not legitimate. Free grace believers don't talk that way! I am disturbed that hellbound Roman Catholics and Mormons are cheering and embracing Charlie Kirk, who coddled these false religions with ecumenical compromise.
Whether Charlie went to Heaven or not is irrelevant to me. I hope he did, but I am concerned about those lost sinners who are still living and still have an opportunity to get saved.
In this toxic Unshackled audio clip, a woman requires that her father receive Jesus as both LORD and SAVIOR, and to LIVE A LIFE OF SUBMISSION to Him to be saved...
God's curse is on PGM and other demonic heretics today who PREACH ANOTHER GOSPEL of partial faith in Christ PLUS works to get to Heaven. That ignorant daughter failed to mention the true Gospel, that Jesus DIED on a cross to pay our debt of sin, He was BURIED, and three days later Jesus physically RESURRECTED from the dead.
That is the 'GOOD NEWS' according to 1st Corinthians 15:1-6, not living a life of submission to Jesus as the Lord of your life. The idiots in Matthew 7:21-23 lived a life of submission to Jesus, even calling Him: "Lord, Lord," but look where it got them in 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝟳:𝟮𝟯, “𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗜 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺, 𝗜 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂: 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗺𝗲, 𝘆𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆.”
Acts 13:38-39, “Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.”
There is not a more deadly false doctrine today than Lordship Salvation being propagated in the churches. Pastor Tom Stegall is the senior pastor of Duluth Bible Church. Brother Stegall is 100% free grace, my kind of Bible preacher. ...
This sermon is full of meat and potatoes biblical sound doctrine.
“Legalism does not make you holy, it just makes you appear holy.” —Pastor Tom Stegall, 'True Grace vs. The Imbalance Of Legalism'
The Devil has too many voices spreading lies and heresies. God's army is seeking volunteers to fight the good fight of faith. 1st Timothy 6:12, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”
Sadly, you'll have to look long and hard to find a courageous truth-telling pastor today who cares enough about THE TRUTH to expose the Devil's false Bible revisions, who cares enough to expose the Devil's deadly lies of Wrong Repentance and Lordship Salvation. Even worse, in most Baptist churches today you will hear a counterfeit plan of salvation preached, requiring you to be willing to “turn from your sins” to get to Heaven. Yet, no such teaching or requirement is found anywhere in the inspired King James Bible.
It is disheartening when I walk into a Baptist church for the first time, like the corrupt Smyrna Baptist Church in Pensacola, and I see poisonous Chick Tracts on display. Pastor Bill Adams (their senior pastor) is not fit to be a pastor. He is theologically incompetent, hateful and woefully lacks compassion for hurting people, which is regrettable learned firsthand when I attended their cult for seven months. Smyrna Baptist Church is pulling on the same rope as the Devil by promoting Chick Tracks and their wrong view of Bible repentance. You get saved by trusting Christ who died on the cross to pay your debt of sin, you don't get saved by reforming your life (which is self-righteousness). Shame on Jack Chick and any church who supports that deadly garbage!
BEWARE of Lordship Salvation, which teaches that faith is not enough to be saved. Lordship Salvation adds making Jesus the “Lord” of your life, so that you'll give up your sinful bad habits and follow Christ. This is service (Romans 12:1-2), not salvation (Galatians 3:26). It is slavation! Faith is the only righteous thing that I can do.
Galatians 1:6-7, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.”
A FALSE GOSPEL CANNOT SAVE!!! Our churches are flooded today with all sorts of heresies concerning the Gospel. In our text verse, the apostle Paul was astounded how quickly the churchgoers at Galatia had fallen prey to “ANOTHER GOSPEL” (which is no Gospel at all). Listen to what Evangelist Paul Washer errantly teaches:
I tell 'em this. I say, “Listen. If tonight you have truly repented and believed in Jesus Christ, you have become a child of God. But this is going to be the evidence—If you have truly repented unto salvation, you will continue repenting unto salvation, and growing in repentance. And if you have truly believed, you will continue believing! None of this flu-shot stuff! I don't want someone walking up to that person, ten years later, they're living an ungodly life, and someone witnessed to them, and they say, 'Oh, don't worry about me, I done did that!' Cause that's what most people do in the south, isn't it? 'Don't worry about me preacher, I did that.' You did what? 'I got my flu-shot.' Yeah, but you didn't get Jesus! ...You counsel them with many Gospel promises and many Gospel warnings!”
Ladies and gentlemen, that is not the biblical Gospel! That is not the simplicity that is in Christ! Paul Washer is infamous for this type of false Calvinistic preaching, that conditions one's salvation upon personal works of discipleship. I've listened to many dozens of hours of repentance and salvation by Paul Washer and he is corrupt. Mr. Washer makes the dire mistake of mixing discipleship with sonship. He confuses salvation with consecration. Here is an excellent quote by Dr. Martin DeHaan (1891-1965) explaining the difference between coming to Christ for salvation, verses coming after Christ in discipleship:
"There is a vast difference between coming to Jesus for salvation and coming after Jesus for service. Coming to Christ makes one a believer, while coming after Christ makes one a disciple. All believers are not disciples. To become a believer one accepts the invitation of the Gospel, to be a disciple one obeys the challenge to a life of dedicated service and separation. Salvation comes through the sacrifice of Christ; discipleship comes only by sacrifice of self and surrender to His call for devoted service. Salvation is free, but discipleship involves paying the price of a separated walk. Salvation can't be lost because it depends upon God's faithfulness, but discipleship can be lost because it depends upon our faithfulness." —M.R. DeHaan, Hebrews; Zondervan Publishing House, 1959 (p. 117)
Here are some more great quotes below exposing the falsehood of Lordship Salvation. This is GREAT SOUND DOCTRINE!!!
The following excellent information by Dr. Hank Lindstrom is from the helpful Christian website, Get God's Gift...
THE INCOMPATIBILITY OF THE LORDSHIP GOSPEL WITH THE GOSPEL OF GRACE
"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." —Galatians 1:8, 9
The importance of this question can't be overestimated in relation to both salvation and sanctification. The message of faith only and the message of commitment of life can't both be the gospel; therefore, one of them is a false gospel and come under the curse of perverting the gospel or preaching another gospel.
"It is an inexcusable error to confront sinners with problems that concern the Christian life and call upon them to make promises regarding them. An unsaved person is never called upon to surrender himself to God. The saving act is in no instance represented as our 'giving ourselves to God'; it is, on the contrary, taking His Son as our Savior." —Charles Ryrie, Balancing the Christian Life; Moody Press, Inc., 1969 (p. 170)
"The second approach finds faith in the gospel alone an 'easy Believism' and seeks to add something to faith in order to accomplish salvation. To repent is to 'change one's mind,' and to believe is to remove one's trust from that in which it has rested and place it in Christ." —William Howard, Is Faith Enough to Save?; Bibliotheca Sacra, January-March, 1942 (p.99)
"This kind of faith is not 'easy believism'. It is not easy to say, 'I can't save myself, I must recognize that there is something wrong with me, and I must seek help from someone else.'" —Phillip Hook, A Biblical Definition of Saving Faith; Bibliotheca Sacra. April-June, 1964 (pp. 133, 138)
"Eternal life is free. Discipleship is immeasurably hard. The former is attained by faith alone, the latter by a faith that works... the former brings with it the righteousness of God so that a man is 'justified freely by his grace' (Romans 3:24). The latter develops a personal righteousness, based on good deeds, so that a man was also 'justified by works' (James 2:24). The former constituted the believer God's workmanship, the latter fulfilled the wonderful purpose for which he had been created. The former cost man nothing, the latter could cost him everything, including life itself." —Zane C. Hodges, The Hungry Inherit; Moody Press, Inc., 1972 (pp. 114, 115)
"For the unregenerate man, repentance is the change of mind whereby he turns from unbelief to faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ." —Roger Post, The Meanings of the Words Translated 'Repent' and 'Repentance' in the New Testament; Master's Thesis, Wheaton College, June 1972 (p. 80)
"There are those who, in their zeal to get people to turn from their sinful ways and receive the Lord, almost put repentance on a par with believing... Repentance, as it relates to Christ, means to change our minds about Him, who He is and what He's done to provide forgiveness and deliverance from our sins. When we place faith in Jesus as having taken our place personally on the cross and borne the penalty due our sins, then we're automatically repenting, because we couldn't accept Him in this way without having had to change our minds in some way concerning Him." —Hal Lindsey, The Liberation of Planet Earth; Zondervan Publishing House, 1974 (pp. 136, 137).
"Discipleship is frequently equated with salvation and often erroneously made a condition for becoming a Christian". Dwight J. Pentecost, Design for Discipleship; Zondervan Publishing House, 1971 (p. 11)
"Certainly discipleship is a most important aspect of our relation to Christ, but it belongs to the sphere of Christian life rather than entrance upon that life... One does not become a disciple in order to become a Christian, but because he has become a Christian by faith in the Savior, it is fitting that he embark upon a life of discipleship". —Everett F. Harrison, Must Christ be Lord to Be Savior? - No.; Eternity, September 1959 (p. 14)
"There is no more piously subtle abrogation of the Gospel than to tell a Sinner that he must not only believe in the Savior, but dedicate himself to do God's will, crown the Savior Lord of his life, etc., etc. Obviously, dedication and service are highly desirable, but they are the privilege and the duty of the saved, never a condition of salvation for the unsaved (cf. Romans 12:1, 2)." —Merrill F. Unger, God is Waiting to Meet You; Moody Press, 1975 (p. 117, 118).
"People are sometimes led to believe that there is saving value in some public confession of Christ, or profession of a decision. "With the heart man believeth unto righteousness." This is salvation. "With the mouth confession is made unto salvation." This is the voice of the newborn child speaking to and of its father. The only condition on which one may be saved is to believe." —Lewis Sperry Chafer, Salvation; Dunham Publishing Company, 1917 (p. 46)
SUMMARY
Lordship salvation is where someone teaches that there must be a commitment to Christ as Lord of one's life in order to be saved. Recently there has been a modification of this position to say that willingness to be controlled by the Lord at the time of salvation is all that is required in addition to faith in order to be saved. The message of faith only and the message of faith plus commitment of life can't both be the gospel; therefore, one of them is a FALSE GOSPEL and comes under the curse of perverting the gospel or preaching another gospel. Galatians 1:8, 9 says, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you, than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that you have received, let him be accursed." If only committed people are saved people, then where is there room for carnal Christians? What kind of dedication must be preached to people, if in order to be saved, they have already dedicated their lives to the Lord? Where do you stop if you start adding something else to this which is the gospel revealed in the Bible? Look at what God says about adding to the revelation of Jesus Christ (gospel), "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book" (Revelation 22:18). The Bible plainly declares that we are saved by faith, and not by works. Where does it say this? Ephesians 2:8, 9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast." What are you trusting in to get you to heaven?
* Written by Dr. Hank Lindstrom
The moment you put your trust in Jesus Christ, God who can read your mind knows, saves YOU and gives you the Gift of God, eternal Life.
You do not need anyone to pray over you, or pray for you, because this is between you and God in Heaven. If you have trusted Christ, then because of your new trust in the shed blood of Jesus Christ you are now a child of God. Before you trusted in Jesus, God was your Creator, but now and forevermore He will be your Father.
You are saved in a moment of time, because you are trusting in the true Savior now, not working your way to Heaven day by day which is not even possible.
Once saved you can never be lost, not for any reason. This is because you were born spiritually the moment you put your trust in Him. Just like your physical birth which brought you into this human world, your spiritual birth gave you a new spiritual life that is permanent. You were born-again, made righteous and holy in Gods eyes. In fact you have the righteousness of God himself, your are sinless and perfect in God's eyes now and that's why you can enter into a perfect heaven.
My favorite saying is:
God will not save anyone who is trying to be saved, He will only save those who are trusting to be saved.
You MUST put ALL your trust in Jesus to be saved, trust in the blood that He shed on the cross, trust that He is God in the flesh, trust that He made the complete payment for your sins, not just part; He paid for ALL of your sins (past, present, and future)! Trust that He rose again from the dead after 3 days and 3 nights, and in return for this trust, He gives YOU Eternal Life. All false Christians put part of their trust in Jesus and part of their trust the Church and part of their trust in themselves. If you put 99.99% trust in Jesus and 00.01% in something else, you will go to hell. It must be 100% trust in Jesus and what He did and 0% in you or your church! This information in critical... (grace always cancels works!) You are going to hell if it's by your works or you are going to heaven by Gods grace. It's as simple as that.
So I guess the question comes down to who are you trusting. Are you trusting yourself to get to heaven by being a good person and giving lots of money to your church or are you trusting Jesus, the lamb of God, that was slain for the sins of the world to get you to heaven? You receive the Gift of God (Eternal Life) as soon as you stop trusting in yourself, your church, your synagogue, your mosque, your money, or any other works and put your trust in Him and Him ALONE, Jesus Christ, Yeshua, The King of Kings, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, the Alpha and Omega, the Mighty God.
False religions are everywhere and they will find you, the one true God and His plan of salvation must be found.
If all this makes sense to you and you would like to trust Jesus as your personal Savior right now then tell the Mighty God in Heaven of your decision to trust Jesus Christ as your only hope of Heaven. Tell Him that you are no longer putting your trust in your actions, or your church, or your church membership, or in your money, or in your Rabbi, or in your synagogue or your Mosque but that you are putting all of your trust in Him and the shed blood of the cross to pay your sin debt. Thank Him for doing it for you! Thank Him for giving you the Gift of Eternal Life that He paid for with His life. There is no greater deed than that of laying down your life for another.
Will you trust Jesus as your Savior right now, the one who shed His precious blood on the cross of Calvary to pay for all your sins?
Suggested Sinners Prayer Lord, I admit that I'm a sinner & I don't understand a whole lot about the bible, but I do believe that Jesus Christ died & paid for my sins in full, by His death & shed blood on the cross. I trust right now the He died for me, was buried & rose again from the dead and will live forever more. I trust Jesus Christ right now to save me, to be my savior, to forgive my sins & to give me the GIFT OF GOD Eternal Life. Amen
By reading this sinners prayer aloud, you are putting your trust in God and His plan of salvation. You are not saved by saying this prayer, you are saved the moment your mind made the switch from trusting in yourself to putting your COMPLETE TRUST IN JESUS CHRIST. That moment may have been five paragraphs up on this page, or that moment may have been on another one of our pages. You will not feel any different, but you will be changed and changed for the better forever.
Once you have trusted Jesus as your Savior and received his gift of eternal life, this gift can NEVER be lost. You can NEVER go to Hell for ANY reason. Your past, present and future sins were paid in full the moment you put your trust in Him. You are blameless and Holy in God's eyes now and FOREVER. If you have eternal life today what kind of life will you have in five years? ETERNAL! What kind of life will you have in ten years? ETERNAL!! What kind of life will you have in 50 years? ETERNAL!!! God does not give probationary life or temporary life, His gift is ETERNAL LIFE! Thanks be to GOD!
Why be good, now that I am assured of going to Heaven? Because God's law of sowing and reaping still applies to you and me. You will reap what you sow. You will reap more than you sow and you will reap later than you sow. If you drink alcohol like a fish, you will reap a diseased liver. If you smoke like a chimney everyday, you will reap lung cancer. If you rob, murder, and steal you will reap a life in prison. You will reap what you sow. I guarantee it! Now that you are saved, when you do good things you WILL be rewarded here on earth and in Heaven. And when you do bad things you WILL lose rewards that God had planned on giving you here on earth and in Heaven. But you will NEVER lose your guarantee of going to Heaven. That can never be lost for any reason!! You have God's word that your salvation can never be lost for any reason. You did not earn salvation and you do not work to keep salvation! Eternal Life, salvation, being born again, becoming a child of God, was, is, and always will be the GIFT OF GOD.
Remember: If your not saved forever... you are not saved!
Why is this true you might ask? Because if a person is not sure that they are saved TODAY / RIGHT NOW it means that they are still trying to be the savior! They can't be sure they are going to Heaven because they don't know what sin's they may commit next week, next month or next year. We who have trusted in Jesus alone, can have comfort knowing that all our sins have been paid in full on the Cross of Calvary (past, present, and future sins). Jesus has already died for my sins so I don't need to pay for any sin I have or will commit in the future because Jesus already paid the price in full with His blood. So called Christians who say that you can lose your salvation because of suicide or murder or falling away from the church don't have a clue what the Bible says and clearly have not trusted Jesus ALONE!
Biblical Salvation is forsaking any other means of salvation but Christ, and casting ourselves fully upon Him in faith for eternal life.
The Gift of God, Eternal Life can never be lost once possessed for any reason. John 6:39 " And this is the Father's will which hath sent Me, that of all which He hath given Me I should LOSE NOTHING, but should raise it up again at the last day." You have God's promise that once you put your trust in Jesus you can never be lost for ANY reason whatsoever.
"For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance” (Romans 11:29). Again, God is telling you that this Gift of God that you have just received is without repentance. He can never take His gift back for any reason, no matter how bad you get, or how bad your sins are it is not possible. God would have to cease to exist for that to happen because He cannot lie.
I plead with you, whoever you may be, to start checking your church's religious tracts, and see what type of stuff is being taught to people concerning how to be saved. I visited a local church recently and was dismayed at what I read in their Gospel tracts. IT WASN'T THE GOSPEL!!! I read three big heresies in their tracts. First, that you must turn your life over to Christ to be saved. Second, that you must receive Jesus as your Savior AND LORD to be saved. And thirdly, that you must turn from your sins to be saved. Ladies and gentleman, none of these things constitute the Gospel. We are saved by believing the Gospel.
But in order for this to happen, there must be repentance, which is simply changing your mind from unbelief to belief, admitting that you guilty sinner in the sight of a holy God and believing (placing your confidence) in the dear Savior. No on has ever been saved without repentance!!! But you don't get saved by repenting, you get saved by placing your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. You need to receive Jesus as your Savior to be saved, which happens the very moment that you BELIEVE. 1st Corinthians 1:21, “For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” What exactly is “THE GOSPEL”?
Romans 10:9-10, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
One of my favorite Bible teachers is Pastor Brad Strand. I was delighted last year to learn that Brother Strand authored a helpful study Bible. The project was his heart's passion for 33 years, in which time he invested over 30,000 hours of labor to write this masterpiece. I was glad to learn that he faithfully contends for the Christian faith, exposing the Devil's lie of Lordship Salvation. Romans 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Pastor Strand writes concerning Romans 10:9 on pages 1858 and 1859:
Sadly, some “Lordship Salvation” advocates will use this verse to prove their point that JESUS must become your “Lord” before you can be saved. They claim that unbelievers must count the cost of discipleship and decide if they are willing to pay the price in order to obtain eternal life. One such advocate has written a book in which he gives the following answer to the question “What [is] the minimum amount of doctrine or belief a person [has] to have to be a Christian?” He notes:
The minimum amount a person must believe to be a Christian is everything, and the minimum amount a person must give is all. I say, “You must give it all. You cannot hold back even a fraction of a percentage of yourself. Every sin must be abandoned. Every false thought must be repudiated. You must be the Lord's entirely.” —SOURCE: Montgomery Boice, James. Christ's Call to Discipleship. Chicago, IL: Moody Press, 1986. Print.
What this man is advocating is that a person cannot be saved until he makes Jesus the “Lord” of his life. However, this verse is not teaching us that we must make Jesus our Lord in order to be saved; it is teaching us that Jesus is“Lord” and if we are to be saved, we must accept the fact that He was God in flesh on earth (Jn 5:17-18 & 10:30-33). Jesus said to the Pharisees in John 8:23-24, “Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins(i.e., go to Hell): for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.” Jesus said that salvation is based on two things (Mt 3:2):
Who we are (Lk 5:31-32 & 13:1-5 and Mt 27:3) — God tells us that we are “sinfully” sick and in need of the Savior and that we cannot save ourselves (Rom 3:10, 23).
Who Christ is (Mt 4:13-17 & 11:20-24, Mk 1:15, Acts 3:12-19 and Acts 2:38a) — Christ is God (Lord — Jon 8:24, 58-59), not a god. Christ is the only Savior (Acts 4:10-12).
Lordship Salvation doctrine hinders unbelievers from being saved because it presents them with a distorted view of the Gospel of God's grace.
Bravo to Pastor Strand. The Devil's a liar and the father of all liars (John 8:44). It may seem like a trifle matter to most churchgoers today to embellish the Gospel. Literally, you can attend a dozen different Bible colleges or churches and you'll hear multiple different plans of salvation. But we know from the inspired King James Bible that there is only one Gospel. Galatians 1:6-7, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.” So how in the world did we end up with nearly every church today preaching something different than what the inspired Holy Bible teaches?
I think the answer is simply that 99% of churchgoers have always blindly followed whatever their pastor tells them, instead of doing as the Bereans did in the Bible, whom the Apostle Paul said, “searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” The Bereans didn't just take it for granted that they were being told the truth, they went to verify from the inspired Word of God whether those things were so. If people would simply study the Bible they would quickly find that Lordship Salvation is a fallacy, a counterfeit plan of salvation.
God wrote the Gospel of John as His Gospel tract. The word “believe” is found 85 times in the Gospel of John. In the book of John we don't find anything about making Jesus our “Lord” to get to Heaven. Pastor Curtis Hutson wisely said: A good rule to follow when interpreting the Bible is to never use an obscure passage to contradict a clear one. Advocates of Lordship Salvation often cite obscure passages of Scripture, wresting the Bible to their own destruction. Yet, they totally ignore the Gospel of John, which according to John 20:31 was written to show us how to get to Heaven, “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.”
In a booklet delivered to my home's mailbox in November of 2023 by Campus Church at Pensacola Christian College, it contains the following damnable heresy...
“REPENTANCE — Now is the time to turn from your sin and embrace God. The act of turning away from sin is called 'repentance.' This word implies an inward decisionto follow and obey God's will instead of your self-serving sins. It means changing your mind about sin and seeing it as something that grieves God. The Bible says that God patiently waits for all people to make this decision.”
SOURCE: “John & Romans,” Campus Church at Pensacola Christian College, p. 60
Also this damnable heresy,
“I repent of my sins. I realize that sin is something that God hates and I no longer want to hold onto sinful bad habits in my life.”
SOURCE: “John & Romans,” Campus Church at Pensacola Christian College, p. 62
That is damnable heresy!!! You cannot show me any of those false teachings in the inspired King James Bible. Pensacola Christian College (PCC) and their incompetent Campus Church pastors are theological liars!!! Satan is using them to lead lost sinners into Hell (2nd Corinthians 11:13-15). They are giving lost people a false hope.
The "Gospel" is that Jesus died on a cross for our sins. He was buried. He resurrected physically three days later. According to 1st Corinthians 15:1-4, whosoever BELIEVES (trusts, relies upon) this Good News is saved. Anyone who admits to being a guilty sinner in God's sight (Romans 3:19-20), and they receive Christ's sacrifice on the cross as full payment for their sins, believing that Christ is risen from the dead, is saved (1st Thessalonians 4:14).
To get to Heaven, there is no additional biblical requirement to hate sin so much that it compels us to forsake a lifestyle of sinning. That is manmade reformation, not biblical repentance. In true salvation, God saves an ungodly sinner (just as I am), and then the indwelling Holy Spirit indwells that child of God. If we choose to Walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25), then the Holy Spirit (not us) lives the Christian life through us (Galatians 2:20).
A changed life is the "fruit" of the indwelling Holy Spirit (God living in us as believers). What Lordship Salvation does, is it forces an unsaved person to change their own life, in their own human power, to be saved. This is not the "fruit" of the indwelling Holy Spirit. It is human reformation and a counterfeit plan of salvation.
Pastor Harry Ironside (187501951) said it best, I humbly think:
“The Gospel is not a call to repentance, or to amendment of our ways, to make restitution for past sins, or to promise to do better in the future. These things are proper in their place, but they do not constitute the Gospel; for the Gospel is not good advice to be obeyed, it is good news to be believed. Do not make the mistake then of thinking that the Gospel is a call to duty or a call to reformation, a call to better your condition, to behave yourself in a more perfect way than you have been doing in the past …
Nor is the Gospel a demand that you give up the world, that you give up your sins, that you break off bad habits, and try to cultivate good ones. You may do all these things, and yet never believe the Gospel and consequently never be saved at all.”
Bravo! Clearly, Dr. Harry Ironside taught a free grace view of the Gospel. I love free grace preachers who get the gospel right!
“When it comes to salvation, if you're saved by grace, there's nothing to stop or start.” —Pastor Ralph Yankee Arnold, “Legalistic Judaism is Today's Calvinism”
Amen and amen! John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”
Acts 16:29-31, “Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
I am alarmed at how many preachers, Bible colleges, radio stations, television channels, missionaries and so-called ministries are preaching a counterfeit plan of salvation today. Dr. Jack Hyles (1926-2001) faithfully exposes the Devil's fallacy of Lordship Salvation...
“I never thought, I'd see a day when Baptist preachers would not preach the true Gospel. Tonight, all across this nation, Baptist preachers have succumbed to the heresy of John MacArthur. I said the heresy of John MacArthur! I said the heresy of John MacArthur! And somebody that's got several thousand people to hear 'em, who can go across this country, has got to alert Baptists that we have false teachers in our midst who are no longer teaching and preaching salvation by grace through faith plus nothing. Folks, we're fighting for our lives tonight!” —Pastor Jack Hyles, “A Vote For Preaching”
I am about to show you the damnable false plan of salvation preached on UNSHACKLED radio by the Pacific Garden Mission (PGM) in Chicago.
The False Gospel Of Gary Reynolds
I listened to UNSHACKLED radio today, which was aired in 2023 by Pacific Garden Mission (PGM) in Chicago. The episode number is 3804, the classic story of Gary Reynolds. Here is a heretical quote from an excerpt of the program, spoken by the actor who plays Gary...
“You must believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins and then acknowledge Him as the Lord of your life.” [emphasis added] —'UNSHACKLED,' episode #3804, Gary Reynolds
The PGM narrator then adds this heretical statement...
“You can have the peace and freedom that Gary found in Jesus Christ, but you must repent and believe in Jesus as Lord.” [emphasis added]
Dear reader, that is NOT God's simple plan of salvation!!! Our text passage from Acts 16:29-31 shows the simplicity of the Gospel. We are saved by simply BELIEVING on Christ.
If believing on Jesus as your “Lord” we required to be saved, then the Bible would have said so. You simply take Him as your Savior, not your Lord (Dr. Hyles excerpt), to get to Heaven. If you have to follow Christ as the “Lord” of your life, and repent to “turn from your sins” (which PGM teaches often), then no one is saved. Those are self-righteous works (Jonah 3:10).
Jesus Christ died on a cross to pay our debt of sin. He was buried. Three days later Jesus physically resurrected miraculously from the dead. This is “the gospel”...
1st Corinthians 15:1-4, “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
I didn't see anything mentioned about making Jesus the “Lord” of your life, did you? I didn't see anything about turning from your sinful bad habits, did you? PGM makes sure to push the Lordship Salvation heresy in every UNSHACKLED episode, because they are trying to force sinners to reform and clean up your own life. They are attempting to do the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit in a believer's life (John 17:17).
Dear friend, in the true Gospel the entire burden of sin rests upon Christ alone, who died in our place on the cross; but in the Devil's Lordship Salvation lie, the burden of sin is placed upon the sinner's shoulders, because you are required to turn from your sins and follow Christ as Lord of your life to be saved. The true Gospel always points you to CHRIST; a false gospel always points to YOU. Salvation is not a reward for the righteous, it is a gift for the guilty! Salvation is not doing your best, it is having Christ's best put to your account through receiving Him by faith.
“SALVATION is a decision to trust; SERVICE is a commitment to God to perform.” —Pastor Ralph Yankee Arnold, “Works And Grace Clearly Explained”
“To add anything to salvation other than the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross is to say that His death was not sufficient payment for our sins.” —Dr. Curtis Hutson
“My sin belongs to me; my righteousness is Jesus Christ's.” —Pastor Brad Moffett
“Sound doctrine is like a sound ship. There are no holes in it.” —Pastor David Baker
These are great quotes from godly men who understand and preach the true Gospel. PGM is messed up doctrinally. Their theology is like a sinking ship with holes in it. I absolutely hate the Devil's falsehood ofLordship Salvation with a perfect hatred, but I do not hate the deceived men and women who preach it today. My heart goes out to them because they have sincerely been tricked by the master of all deceivers, Satan (2nd Corinthians 11:13-15). All I can do is preach the true Gospel, expose the Devil's lies, and pray that someone will heed the truth. 1st Timothy 4:16, “Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.”
If you admit that you're a guilty sinner in God's sight for breaking His commandments, and you will simply receive Christ's sacrifice on the cross as payment for your sins, believing that He was buried and raised up three days later from the dead, then YOU ARE SAVED. The man who believes had repented. That is, he has changed his mind from unbelief to belief (i.e., he has turned from his dead works to faith in Christ - Hebrews 6:1). True repentance has nothing to do with “turning from sin” and everything to do with “acknowledging one's sinfulness” (Romans 3:19-20; 2nd Timothy 2:25). Like the thief on the cross who simply acknowledged his sinfulness (Luke 23:39-43), the only part a person has in salvation is the beggar's part.
Kindly said, Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago is preaching another gospel (2nd Corinthians 11:3-4) of partial faith in Christ PLUS taking Christ as your “Lord” (which implies that you must give up your lifestyle of sinning to be saved, which is works and not grace). I've listened to hundreds of UNSHACKLED episodes, so I know what they teach. A corrupt plan of salvation cannot produce the new birth.
The False Gospel of Rodney Williams
I heard another UNSHACKLED episode today, the story of Rodney Williams (Part 2), episode #2803. Here is a transcript of their doctrinally perverse phone conversation. Pastor Rodney Williams tells the stranger a counterfeit plan of salvation, giving him false hope...
Stranger: “Is this the guy who wrote a book about Meth?
Pastor Williams: Yes.
Stranger: “I need help man, I'm in so deep; so deep.
Pastor Williams: I've been there, and Jesus is the answer.
Stranger: Oh, don't be talkin' religious stuff man.
Pastor Williams: I'm telling you the truth. Jesus saved my life. He pulled me out of the same pit you're in. He lives and He loves you. He will change your life.
Stranger: Yeah, how?
Pastor Williams: You have to put your trust in Him. Repent of your sins against God, and ask Him to save you.
Stranger: You don't get it man, I owe people money. They gonna waste me, if I don't do it myself first.
Pastor Williams: Satan wants you to die, and spend eternity in Hell, but Jesus died to give you eternal life, trust Him. You have to take a step of faith, and trust Him, it's the only way.
Stranger: I been a fighter my whole life, I don't know if I can stop fighting.
Pastor Williams: Following Jesus is not for wimps. Everyday is a battle, but the battle belongs to the Lord. He gives you the victory when you surrender your life to Him.
Stranger: I'm desperate, I'll try anything, even that!” [emphasis added]
What you have just read is utter nonsense and damnable heresy!!! This is typical of the false teachings heard on UNSHACKLED radio. Let's examine Rodney Williams false gospel. A complete stranger calls on the phone for help with his broken life, desperate, and Rodney tells him this garbage:
Trust Jesus
Repent of your sins
Follow Jesus
Surrender your life to Him
You cannot support the last 3 requirements with the inspired Holy Bible to get to Heaven. This is NOT God's simple plan of salvation. Moreover, Rodney didn't even mention Jesus' death on the cross, burial or bodily resurrection (which is the Gospel according to 1st Corinthians 15:1-4).
I love what Pilgrim's Progress author, John Bunyan, wrote:
“If you do not put a difference between justification wrought by the man Christ without and sanctification wrought by the Spirit of Christ within, you are not able to divide the Word aright; but contrariwise, you corrupt the Word of God, and cast stumbling blocks before the people.” —John Bunyan (1628-1688)
That is my favorite preacher quote! John Bunyan fully understood the utter importance of maintaining separation between sanctification and justification. That is, we must keep SERVICE (Romans 12:1) separate from SALVATION (Galatians 3:26). Many people have been lied to by preachers, misled to think that they are not saved unless their life has changed for the better, but that is not true. They have made the dire error of mixing works with grace. They have combined service with salvation, corrupting the Gospel and confusing people.
Pastor M.R. DeHaan Gets Salvation Right
Another one of my favorite quotes is from Pastor M.R. DeHaan (1891-1965)...
DeHaan, “Hebrews”; Zondervan Publishing House; 1959 (p. 117)
Bravo Dr. DeHaan! I am shocked and saddened that most pastors today, including the clergy as a whole, are guilty of failing to put a difference between sanctification and justification. In so doing, they have corrupted the Word of God and cast stumblingblocks before the people. PGM and UNSHCAKLED are guilty of mixing works with grace. They are guilty of failing to differentiate between the fruit of the Spirit produced in a believer's life who Walks in the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25), versus the childlike faith without works which brings salvation (Romans 4:1-7). PGM horribly places the burden of change upon the sinner, instead of wholly leaning on Jesus' name to get to Heaven. Faith is the only righteous thing that I can do.
Beware Of UNSHACKLED Radio
I cannot warn you enough to avoid these false prophets, who mislead lost sinners, sending them to Hell after being given a false hope. Nobody has ever been born-again by following Christ, turning from your sins or surrendering to Jesus, PLUS trusting Christ. You can only be saved by wholly leaning on Jesus' precious name. That is, you must trust what Jesus did to pay your debt of sin through Calvary's cross and nothing more. 1st Thessalonians 4:14, “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.” There is the Gospel. Amen. What PGM is propagating is a false plan of salvation—the same lies which the religious cults teach.
Colossians 2:16-17, "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ." I Corinthians 2:8, "Which none of the princes of this world knew- for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory."
Now exactly what is Lordship salvation? It is a doctrine embraced by some who say that one must receive Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord in order to be saved. A careful took at this doctrine will show that it is really nothing more but salvation by works rearing its ugly head. It adds to salvation by faith and faith alone something that man must do, and that is make Jesus the Lord of his life.
Those who embrace this doctrine often do so from good motives. They are sick of sub-standard Christianity and shallow Christian living. They find others who agree with them, and as they fellowship in their lamentation caused by disappointment after examining the lives of God's people, their lamentation becomes doctrine. They do not realize that they are adding works to salvation. They adopt spiritual clichés such as "if Christ is not Lord of all, He will not be Lord at all." Then they will adopt other little clichés like, "Don't pluck green fruit," "Easy believism," etc. Their disappointment and oftentimes disgust with the shallowness of many Christians causes them to go so far in their disdain that they teach heresy. They love to talk about returning to New Testament Christianity. Well, the truth is, people have not changed since the New Testament. They had shallow Christians then even as we have today. For example, look at I Corinthians 3:14, "And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?" Here we have mention of carnal Christians. Jesus was certainly not Lord of their lives. Yet they are called babes in Christ.
I Corinthians 5:1-5, "It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you. For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, to deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus." Here is a member of the church, and the Lord said of him that his spirit would be saved in the day of judgment. What a tragic testimony! He, like Ananias and Sapphira and others, had committed the sin unto death. Certainly Christ was not the Lord of his life.
Galatians 4:8-11, "Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain." Once again we have some weak Christians whose lives were not characterized by the Lordship of Christ.
2nd Thessalonians 3:6, 14, 15, "Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother."
Was Jesus the Lord of Lot's life when he was in Sodom? Of course not, yet God called him "just." This does not mean he was just in his behavior, but he was just in his standing before God because he was a believer. Was Jesus the Lord of David's life when he sinned? Was Jesus the Lord of Peter's life when he denied the Lord, denied the faith and denied the church? Was Jesus the Lord of Abraham's life when he fled to Egypt because of a lack of faith? Was Jesus the Lord of Moses' life when he lost his ticket to the Holy Land because of his sin of smiting the rock twice? Was Jesus the Lord of Jacob's life when he was in Haran all those years?
Now certainly there is a doctrine called the Lordship of Christ, and the Bible is full of warnings, pleadings and exhortations for God's children to yield to Lordship. Romans 12:1, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." Romans 6-12, 13, "Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God." Galatians 5:16, "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh." Galatians 6:10-17, "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand. As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain, you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by Whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus." The admonition to the unsaved is that they accept Christ as Saviour. The admonition to those who have accepted Christ as Saviour is to accept Him as Lord.
Now here are some observations about Lordship salvation:
1. In the final analysis, it is salvation by works, which is in direct contrast to the teaching of the Scriptures.
Titus 3:5, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost." Romans 3:28, "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." Romans 4:2, "For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God." Ephesians 2:8, 9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast." Romans 4-5, "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."
2. If one must accept Christ as Lord of his life in order to be saved, it would of necessity remove growth in grace.
If one has yielded his life to Christ as Lord at salvation, there would be no babes in Christ, but the simple truth is that there are babes in Christ. I Corinthians 3:1, "And 1, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ." I Peter 2:2, "As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby."
3. Lordship salvation necessitates the doctrine of losing one's salvation.
If one must make Jesus his Lord in order to be saved, then when he backslides to the position to where Jesus is no longer his Lord, consistency would drive us to believe that he is no longer saved. This would make us doubt the salvation of Peter when he denied the Lord, the salvation of Barnabas when he had contention with Paul, the salvation of Jonah when he left the will of God, etc.
4. Lordship salvation makes no provision for the carnal Christian.
None of us takes pleasure in the carnality of a Christian, but the fact remains that there is such a person taught in the Bible. In I Corinthians 3:1 we have the carnal Christian and the spiritual Christian. "And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as babes in Christ." The world is divided between saved and lost. The saved are divided between carnal and spiritual. I do not delight that there carnal Christians, but I must accept the fact that they exist.
5. Lordship salvation removes grace and would nullify the plainest verses in the Bible concerning salvation.
John 3:15, "That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:36, "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." John 5:24, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." John 1: 11, 12, "He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name." Ephesians 2:8, 9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast." All of these verses plainly tell us salvation is by believing; that is, by faith in the finished work of Calvary.
6. Salvation is receiving, not giving.
John 1:12, "But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name." In salvation it is God Who does the giving, not man. Man does the receiving. God gives His Son. John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God gives eternal life. John 10:28, "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand." God gives us all things. Romans 8:32, "He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?" To be a believer, one accepts what God has given. To be a disciple, one gives. Salvation comes from the sacrifice of Christ. Discipleship comes from the sacrifice of self. Salvation depends on God's faithfulness. Discipleship depends on my faithfulness. Hence, salvation cannot be lost. Discipleship can be lost.
Occasionally someone will say, "You can be saved if you will give your heart to Jesus." Now I think that people who use this statement are sincere, and many have been saved in response to their appeal, but technically one is saved, not because he gives his heart to Jesus; one is saved because he receives Jesus and His gift of eternal life.
7. Lordship salvation would make salvation a trade or a deal or maybe even a bribe.
It would take away the simple reception of Christ for eternal life and would become God giving us something if we give Him something. God would say to us, "You give Me something; I'll give you something. We will trade, and you will be saved." Salvation is not my giving God something and God giving me something; salvation is God giving me something and my receiving it. Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
In order to understand the Lordship of Christ, let us notice the following:
1. The unsaved man is IN the flesh and sin is IN him.
2. He receives Christ.
Christ comes IN him. Colossians 1:27, "To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."
3. When Christ enters, the old man does not leave.
Though Christ is in him, so is the old nature. Romans 7:15-17, "For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me." There is the new man and there is the old man in the believer. Romans 7:22, 23, "For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members."
4. The new man needs new environment.
Hence, he is IN Christ. 2nd Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." Ephesians 2:6, "And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus." The term "in Christ" or its equivalent is mentioned over 130 times in the New Testament.
5. Now that I am IN Christ, many things are made available to me.
Ephesians 1:3, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ." I Corinthians 3:21, "Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your's." Romans 8:32, "He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"
6. Though these things are available to me, they are not forced upon me, though I live where they are.
Notice that I am already in Christ, and now that I am in Him, these things are available to me, but I must choose to have them. One of these things is fellowship with God. Ephesians 2:13, "But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ." Another is a spiritual walk. I John 2:6, "He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked." Another is His approval. Romans 16:10, "Salute Apelles approved in Christ. Salute them which are of Aristobulus' household." Another is spiritual growth. Colossians 2:7, "Rooted and built up in Him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving." Another is spiritual maturity Colossians 1:28, "Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all—wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus." Another is sanctification. I Corinthians 1:2, "Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's."
All of these things are available to the believer. All are at his disposal, whereas none were before he came in Christ. When he became a new creature and entered into Christ, these and many other things were made available to him. Now to whatever extent man avails himself of these things that are at his disposal, Christ is his Lord. Naturally, the baby Christian does not avail himself of all the things that are his any more than the babe in the house avails himself to the washing machine or the family car. However, as we avail ourselves more and more of the things that Christ has made for us, we grow in grace and Jesus becomes more the Lord of our lives.
Perhaps the greatest Christian who ever lived was the Apostle Paul. In speaking of himself he said, "O wretched man that I am." He called himself "the chief of sinners." He said the things that he would do, he did not, and the things he would not do, he did. Probably Jesus was Lord of more of Paul's life than any other person who ever lived, but Paul himself said he had not yet apprehended.
In conclusion, notice the vanity and pride involved in one testifying to his salvation who believes in Lordship salvation. He is saying, "I have made Jesus my Lord." That means that Jesus controls his life and he is totally yielded. My, what a statement for a person to make about himself! On the other hand, notice the humility in the person's testimony who says, "I am saved because I received Christ as my Saviour." He is talking about a salvation that he did not merit. He did nothing to receive it except receive it. It was a gift. Whereas, if we had to give something to God to get something in return, he and God made a trade and his salvation is earned.
